The Lumens Foundation is a non-profit that was founded to educate communities within the states and abroad about the benefits of sustainable energy. We believe that people are the most important renewable resource, and we want to focus on teaching life-sustaining practices through partnerships. We are dedicated to creating solutions for the many disparities that underserved communities face. We will accomplish this through training, workshops, and resources given to individuals within urban neighborhoods near and far.
 
Witnessing the need for the community, Lumens foundation took the opportunity to be partners with Avalon Village the Heart of Highland Park which was brought to life from the Vision of Mama Shu. When others saw blight she saw beauty and an opportunity to contribute to the lives of the people in the area. 
 
The Imhotep STEM Lab is the most recent addition to Avalon Village. The STEM Lab will provide instruction and hands-on activities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics to the youth of Highland Park. It will serve as a hub to increase the interest in these disciplines among inner-city youth. 
 
Our goal is to raise $50,000.  Once we have the cash on hand, we will move forward with transforming the interior of the lab from a plain box into a classroom that sparks wonder, creativity, and possibility. This will be done by painting the interior, implementing technical design, setup and assembly, acquiring smart TV, teleconferencing tech, desks, and chairs.
