Our Feature Project
Imhotep STEM Lab

The Lumens Foundation is raising funds for Imhotep STEM Lab in Avalon Village. The Lab is a 40ft shipping container that was retrofitted with solar and is an off-grid self contained energy system that was converted into a classroom. The STEM lab will introduce inner city youth of Highland Park MI to the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics disciplines that they otherwise may not gain hands on access with.

Help us make a difference in the lives of the children of Highland Park and create a  futuristic learning experience inside that look as cool and exciting as the outside! Our goal is to raise $50,000 to furnish the Lab with all things STEM including but not limited to white boards, desks, chairs, laptops, Smart TV, 3D printer, STEM kits, instructors and curriculum.

DURING CONSTRUCTION

AFTER CONSTRUCTION

The STEM lab will be a place where students will cultivate their leadership and gain the importance of team work all while learning in an environment where they are loved and supported.

Currently minorities in the clean energy industry are comprised of less than  3% of the total clean energy work force and the numbers fair about the same within the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Through this initiative we believe that we can have a positive impact on increasing minority representation in STEM and clean energy nationwide
